Emily (centre) is restaurant supervisor at Fellpack, in Keswick:
“Fellpack was set up by four guys, Paul - who’s our head chef - Chris, John and James and Paul’s wife Ellie.
“I’m from Yorkshire originally, but I made the decision to move over here because I wanted to be near the fells. I do a bit of everything; I just had two days off and I went mountain biking, climbing and walking. It’s just an adventure playground here.
“Our slogan, ‘fuelling Lakeland adventures’ sums us up well. We’re all about creating wholesome, unique and creative dishes, that taste particularly brilliant if you’ve just come down from the fells!
“James is our resident photographer and so everywhere you look on the walls there are pictures, inspiring people to get out and explore. He’s a local Keswick Athletic Club runner and basically spends his time running around the Lakes.
“When the guys started out they were doing takeaway sandwiches for people to take with them on the fells. Since then our focus has shifted to being more of an all-day restaurant, where you can come and get great local beers and wholesome foodie dishes.
“We pride ourselves on consistency; locals come in weekly for their dose of Fellpack Mac and Cheese, Chocolate Brownie or one of our Roasted Hazelnut Hot Chocolates in a huge handmade mug.
“We’re trying to create an experience you won’t get elsewhere locally. It’s refreshing to work somewhere with such a strong focus on customer experience. We try to go beyond simply being friendly, we’re always striving to make people’s days. In some ways it seems quite a simple formula, but it takes hard work every day to make sure that people are consistently having an amazing time.”
